PINCHING A PENNY till LINCOLN'S EYES BULGE!!!!

In these times, there are so many people without work, including many from my immediate family. I've tried to teach my children to be frugal, only use credit cards when necessary, and to LEARN TO COOK AT HOME!!!! LOL I raised five kids on less than $20,000 a year. None of them starved, they ate well, and learned what home cooking was.

Here is a recipe I found for Bisquick, not what to make with it, but how to make it. This can always be used, from pancakes to biscuits, to fruit crisps and crepes.

Here is how to make your own mix:

9 cups all purpose flour

1 tablespoon salt

2 cups shortening (like crisco, etc.)

1/3 cup baking powder

1 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/4 cup sugar

Blend ingredients by sifting. Cut in shortening until the mix looks like corn mea. Mix can be stored in a covered container at room temperature.

Tomorrow, I will share a home remedy for getting rid of and killing lice. I know, touchy subject, but never the less, most people at one time or another come against these nasty little critters!!!!

I love this recipe. I use baking mixes in a pinch, and hate to run out. I would much rather make it and know what's going into the mix! thanks
