Yum Yum Chocolate!!

Ever get to go to a chocolate factory? Julissa (left) and Alex (right) were able to go with their class to the South Bend Chocolate Factory!! I was suppose to go, but someone didn't get my money in on time (mentioning no names!!!). They had a great time, but now who wouldn't??? YUMMMM

Almond Joy Candy Bars Recipe
Ingredients:
5 Oz. Sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
2 Cups Powdered sugar
14 Ounces Premium shredded coconut- OR flaked coconut
24 Ounces Milk chocolate chips
1 Cup Whole dry roasted almonds
Directions:
Blend the condensed milk and vanilla. Add the powdered sugar to the above mixture a little at a time, stirring until smooth. Stir in the coconut. The mixture should be firm. Pat the mixture firmly into a greased 9x13x2-inch pan. Chill in the refrigerator until firm. In a double boiler over hot, not boiling water, melt the chocolate, stirring often. You may also use a microwave. Remove the coconut mixture from the refrigerator and cut it into 1x2-inch bars. Put 2 whole almonds atop each bar. Set each coconut bar onto a fork and dip it into the chocolate. Tap the fork against the side of the pan or bowl to remove any excess chocolate. Air dry at room temperature on waxed paper for several hours. You may speed up the process by putting in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

1 1/3 Cups chopped walnutsIce cream (optional)

Let pie thaw at room temperature for 30 to 45 minutes.Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small saucepan, melt the stick ofbutter over medium heat.

Add 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon, allspice, cloves and lemon juice. Stir until well blended and sugar ismelted, about 3 minutes. Make an X in the center of the top crust of thepie and fold back the crust.Pour the butter mixture evenly into the pie and then replace the crust.Leave 4 vent holes, sealing the rest of the pastry.Bake for 30 minutes.Remove from the oven and set aside. Reduce heat to 325 degrees.Grate frozen butter into a medium-sized bowl. Toss the grated butter withflour, remaining sugars, remaining cinnamon and walnuts.Carefully wrap an aluminum foil band around the edge of the pie, creating a lip to hold topping. Soap, Soap, and More Soap!!!

OK, we started out this week making soap!! We've run low on the Hemp Oil Soaps, so that's what we made. Three batches. They have to stay covered with towels or blankets to cure. We heat the oils, add the oils to the goat's milk soap, and then add the essential oils. The bottom picture is three batches covered with towels. The hemp oil are my favorite. They are even better for your skin than the regular bars. My daughter uses it for a skin condition and it works great!!!! Hers gets worse in hot, humid weather. After looking up the condition this is what we came up with:

Tiena vericolor (say “TIH-nee-uh VER-sih-kuh-Ler”) is a fungal infection that causes many small, flat spots on the skin that can be flaky or mildly itchy. The many small spots may blend into large patchy areas, usually on the oily parts of the upper body like the chest and back. The spots can be either lighter or darker than the skin around them.
It is also great on Psoriasis!!!! The skin condition might become worse, before getting better. The soap sort of draws it out, thus getting worse. Just keep using it has helped with both conditions, so we've been told by those who use it.
The scents of these soaps are great. Along with making your skin soft and helps with dry skin, you also smell delicious!!! We have some who use the soaps to make bathrooms, drawers, bedrooms, and even offices smell oh so good!
Here is another holiday recipe:

Traditional Christmas Sugar Cookies
Makes 5 dozen

1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup (heaping full) sugar (plus sugar to sprinkle prior to baking)
1/2 cup shortening
1 large egg
1 teaspoon (heaping full) vanilla extract
Green and red decorative sugars & various other decorations

Mix together salt and baking powder. Sift salt and baking powder mixture together with flour. Mix in shortening and sugar with the flour mixture. Beat in egg, making sure the mixture is fully mixed. Add the vanilla and stir well. Roll mixture into a log, wrap in wax paper and refrigerate for a few hours. When ready to decorate, remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll out on a flat working surface. Allow children to cut dough using Christmas cookie cutters, place on ungreased cookie sheet and decorate cookies with decorative sugars. Sprinkle a little sugar on each cookie prior to baking. Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 7-10 minutes. Cool before removing from cooking sheet. Store in air tight container.

Secret Shopper!! OR SCAM

I received a check in the mail to be a mystery shopper!! Cooollll!!!!! or not???? The letter accompanying the check for $3950.00! The letter was from Canada and the check was from a college in California. Wow!! Hit the mother lode!! All I had to do was use my money, go shop at Walmart or Penney's, spending $300, send $3000 and some odd change thru Western Union, and I would earn the rest, approximately $600. Can't beat that now, can you???

Right, I deposit it, spend my money, send them money, and wait for their check to clear.

Sounds good, and that's the problem, too GOOD!!! Well, still got the check, wrote the company the check came from and oddly enough, no one has called to see what happened to their check??

Oh well, guess we'll just get money the old fashioned way........work for it!!! Speaking of which............How about that Handmade Goat Milk Soap????!!!!! LOL :)

Boy, how fast they grow up!!

Here are some recipes for the holiday:
Chocolate Silk Bon Bons
1 cup Crisco

3/4 cup unsifted confectioners sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

Brachs Milk Chocolate Stars

Cream Crisco and sugar. Blend in vanilla. Add flour and salt. Mix until well blended.(will look somewhat dry) Flatten out small piece of dough (approximately 1 teaspoon) Keep water in small bowl for dipping fingers so dough does not stick to hands. Sprinkle with colored sugar for the holidays if desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes ONLY. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Really good cookie.
